After over 2 years of technically challenging and high risk works, 2017 marked the successful completion of another large project in a prestigious building located in the heart of London.
The works were primarily to improve the resilience of an existing Data Centre and included power supply alterations, New UPS units and air conditioning units to be installed along with all the pipework modification to suit the new layout. Furthermore, extensive areas of both new and modified raised access flooring had to be provided within the programme including the erection of walls to suit the new layout and provision of cold aisle containment.
As part of the project, a number of CRAC units had to be removed and replaced with new down flow units all of which were fitted with twin chilled water coils and dual power supplies, which again required a high level of planning and coordination. All of the works had to be coordinated to ensure that the day to day activities of the client were not compromised in any way and this was accomplished throughout the duration of the project.
Below is an overview of the works involved in this project (Mechanical & Electrical works), along with a few photos to illustrate this.
Mechanical Works – supply and installation of CRAC units, fan coil units, chilled pipework, air handling units, cold water and condensate installation, leak detection including drip trays, removal of existing CRAC units, ductwork installation, BMS controls and testing and commissioning.
Electrical Works – Supply and installation of the following PDU’s , submains to the main LV panels, UPS System, Lighting Rack diverse power, data containment, Fire alarm, Earthing and bonding and Testing and Commissioning.
